DCFlex Header May-1

Welcome to the June Data Center Flexible Load (DCFlex) Newsletter! This month, we’re sharing new research, partnerships, and upcoming activities showing how flexibility can improve grid reliability, affordability, and faster access to power for large loads.

What We're Learning:

New: Partnering for Progress, Understanding Community-Centered Data Center Development. As data center scrutiny grows, organizations that combine authentic engagement with transparent follow-through will accelerate approvals, strengthen support, and deliver lasting impact. Click here to learn more from over a dozen case studies.

The Interconnection Practices workstream has released the following:

  • Quick Insight NERC Level 3 Computational Load Alert: Actions and Pathways for Industry Support. More information here.

  • Large Load Ride Through for Data Centers: Identifying Gaps in Requirements, Interpretation, and Compliance. Click here to access.

The Distribution Data Center Workstream released: Connecting Data Center Growth to the Distribution Grid, exploring how distribution-connected data centers are emerging as a practical pathway to meet rising compute needs, particularly for facilities in the 1-to-30-megawatt range. Developed as part of the DCFlex initiative, this work reflects ongoing collaboration with industry stakeholders to better leverage existing distribution infrastructure.

By the Numbers

  • 70+ - Organizations now collaborating in DCFlex across utilities, independent system operators, hyperscalers, OEMs, and tech companies.
  • 65+ - Supporters have added their names to an open letter supporting Flex MOSAIC. Add your name at Flex MOSAIC™ | DCFlex.
  • 4 - Considerations to unlock additional headroom on the power grid smarter and faster: resource adequacy modeling, simulations of generator and transmission constraints, sub hourly modeling, and power flow simulations. See the short, but impactful, video at Headroom Framework
